Bah, don't compare (but you knew that already!). 500 words of bateszi is worth at least 1500 of mine, if I say so myself. Also, while most impressions are indeed superficial at this point it helps your readers cultivate a sense of balance at least, and informs them on what to expect from you throughout the season. This can be a good thing ("his initial assessment of anime X was spot-on!") or a bad thing ("he's eating humble pie after panning anime Y earlier") depending on how you go about it. It's a roulette I think worth playing, if you haven't guessed already.

@Kim: The more I see of Dennou Coil, the more I feel the urge to write about it. It's an authentic animation series, exuding a passion and life that's often so lacking in most conventional anime (points finger in Gonzo's general direction). That's why I loved Gurren Lagann too, the creativity and vision of the production imbues the whole show with profound sense of colour and fantastical wonder.

I was planning an article on the new season, but everyone else is doing that anyway. Besides, most impressions at this point are superficial at best and I'm done with pandering to the mainstream; this is a punk rock anime blog :)

@Martin: The new season started out a little slow with all of that terrible moe stuff, but we always seem to unearth a few gems. I haven't seen Ghost Hound yet, but it looks alright and hey, the director of Kino's Journey is no mug. Also, I was surprised by Gundam 00 too, it was a lot better than I expected it to be and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. Incidentally, you should look into Moyashimon; if you thought Kogepan was cute, wait until to hear these bacteria talking! :)

@Owen S: I'm glad you got the reference in the title. I was thinking "Autumn in the silent forest" would be a great name for a nostalgic anime blog. Anyway, I guess I made this post as a way of forcing myself to stop thinking about writing and just relax over the next week or so. To be honest, I love blogging, but I need to stop spending upwards of 3 or 4 (sometimes even 5) hours stressing over four to five paragraphs. I shudder to think how long it would take me to come up with your thousand+ word essays!

@Ivy: Thanks for the vote of confidence :) Don't worry, I'm determined to keep going with all this, and besides, I don't think I could stop even if I wanted to; when I do stumble across something that totally floors me, I can't help but whip out the blog and shout about it to any who will listen!

@griever: You're right. I'm going to make a real effort to chill out for a week or two, reflect on my feelings about the anime I'm watching and come back even stronger. Part of the problem right now is that I'm just totally unfocused and have nothing particularly unique to say, couple this with the constant stream of fansubs and it's like everything is passing me by.

I had the same problem recently...my solution was to back off and do other things. If you don't want to take a complete vacation, what about doing more editorials or off-topics?

Whats freaky is that you made a post about people losing interest in anime a few weeks back. I certainly hope you're not joining them, I enjoy your posts too much for you to just quit on us hee :P

Take your time these slumps hit us all we just need that little spark to get us back into the game, hang in there!

Heh, good to see you can still reference GITS:SAC in your title, anyway. It's totally understandable, I get that feeling sometimes and I have to tell myself to watch it without feeling obliged to write about it. Don't stress yourself out too much, take your time. We'll be waiting.

Yeah, it's a shame Dennou Coil has been forgotten in recent weeks in favour of the new season (I'm as guilty of that as anyone, although the subbers have run into problems with getting them online) because it's really quite brilliant. As for the new season...I was initially apathetic but the likes of Kaiji, Ghost Hound and even Gundam 00 have kept my interest levels up. The only problem is this damned house move...bah.

I would be interested to see your post about Dennou Coil. I wish more people would talk about it because it is a great show that isn't getting the recognition I think it deserves. I keep trying to get people to watch it but I think a lot of people don't realize how good it is (maybe because the protagonists are children).

Maybe you will feel more inspiration to blog as the season goes more underway. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what to talk about when series are only just starting. Not to mention it's hard to recommend series when they just started. A lot of series start out great but fall apart in the middle and end with a whimper.
