Griffith's fall from grace is spectacular... Though I think his ultimate decision to go "God Hand" was perhaps a little more complex than simply a case of jealousy. I suppose it is the beginning of a chain reaction that ultimately leads to his betrayal.

One of the great things about the triangle relationship between Guts, Casca and Griffith is when it flips and suddenly you have Casca focusing her attention on Guts, and Griffith suddenly finds himself in Guts' position. Griffith's reaction to this, which is what finally precipitates his acceptance into the God's Hand, is one of the best lessons in anime of the influence that power, and the desire for control, holds over men and their hearts.
